Darwin Poetry Event: Darwin's great-great-granddaughter explores his life

Writer Ruth Padel, Darwin's great-great-granddaughter, will read from her acclaimed book, 'Darwin- A life in Poems', and explore the importance of geology to Darwin's life. The Museum opens from 6.30pm for a special viewing of the new exhibition 'Darwin the Geologist'.

Ruth Padel has been Writer in Residence at Somerset House since January 2008. A Fellow both of the Royal Society of Literature and Zoological Society of London, Ruth has won a Cholmondeley Award and the National Poetry Competition; her six acclaimed poetry collections, including Rembrandt Would have Loved You and The Soho Leopard, have been shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize and the Whitbread Poetry Award.
