Solicitor - Commercial Healthcare - Cambridge
This opportunity is within the Cambridge Health Team of market leading firm. Their work includes cutting edge law; for example, advising the Department of Health and other bodies on the legal implications of reforms and changes in legislation. As this team is the first point of contact for a variety of NHS Bodies in the Eastern Region, for national health bodies and some private sector providers, the role will include advising a variety of clients on a wide range of matters including, but not limited to:
· Advising on tendering procedures and interpreting public procurement legislation
· Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts including multi party contracts involving NHS bodies
· Advising on international contracting
· Advising on corporate governance issues such as appropriate use of powers and public law duties
· Acting on co-operative developments between NHS bodies, local authorities and other partners
· Advising on primary care contracts and their operation
· Advising on confidentiality issues and information management
· Advising on legal structures for undertaking activities
· Advising on the implementation of policy, such as exceptional treatment, PCT commission/provider split
· Advising on the application of the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act
· Other health and related public law matters
There will be a significant amount of client contact.
The successful candidate will have;
· Good academics to include a 2.1 degree and good A Levels
· Experience of commercial work and in particular of working on large procurements
· Excellent written English for drafting purposes
· Experience of providing advice on non contentious matters to public sector bodies, preferably health bodies.
· Enthusiasm and an interest in the NHS
· Excellent research skills
