Our client is recruiting a Deputy Manager/Head of Care for their small Care Home in Peterborough.
The home is a registered Care Home with Nursing providing specialist and continuing care for the young physically disabled requiring professional support within an independent living environment.
The home is high specification facility comprising a 15 bed Specialist Care Home that truly allows independent living - each bedroom catered for from within the home as well as having direct external private access.
Client's are aged from 18 - 65 with disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Head/Brain Injuries, Hearing/Speech Impairment, Huntingdon's Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, Stroke and Visual Impairment.
Services include, short stay care, day care, Physiotherapy, independent living training, assisted living, own GP (if required), Gardens and a bar/cafe on premises.
The main activities include:-
1) Identify any changes required in the working practice, consult with the Manager, institute and manage agreed changes
2) Acknowledge any poor work practice, initiate disciplinary procedure and immediately bring to the attention of the Manager
3) Induction of new trained staff in the Home�s Policies and Procedures.
4) Alternate weekends on call, as agreed with Manager (arrangement to be flexible)
5) Ensure all accidents and incidents to Service Users, staff and visitors are recorded and dealt with appropriately and in keeping with timely constraints.
6) Encourage and promote independence of Service Users through discussion and informal training of staff.
7) Check social and emotional needs are included in care plans, and liaise with the Activities Organiser to make sure needs are met.
8) Check all stock to ensure it is not out of date.
9) Do rota�s monthly to be presented to the Manager by 15th of previous month for checking and verifying, giving feedback on any staffing problems to prevent crisis management of shifts.
10) Check Annual Leave Forms after approval by Manager, to make sure only two staff are off at any one time and annual leave taken in accordance with home guidelines.
11) Check M.A.R. charts weekly identifying gaps and speaking with member of staff responsible.
12) Attend all staff meetings - not just for trained staff.
13) Promote ethos of learning in the home and encourage attendance at training sessions by all staff.
15) Support the Managers in raising standards of care, by meeting on regular basis to discuss advances in the home. i.e. KLORA and AQAA.
16) To be involved with the recruitment and retention of new staff, by attending interviews for selection of staff, and in training and mentoring for retention of staff.
17) To work towards RMA in preparation for management position if not already achieved.
