Childcare Central Cambridge Immediate Start
We are looking for a reliable, responsible, organised, energetic, imaginative, and communicative person to work with mum and be part of a team looking after three young girls (ages 3.5 years, 2 years, and 2 weeks) and the household. The assignment is three months full time 7am until 7pm Monday until Friday with up to 15 hours off / free time during the day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday when the two older children are in nursery (timing to be confirmed at interview). The position is to start as soon as possible.
We live in Central Cambridge and are looking for someone who is local and who will live out. The position could suit the following types of individual: a qualified childcare professional, a person with extensive experience of raising children whose children have now grown up, a gap year student / graduate who loves children, is interested long term in a child care / teaching profession and has some experience of looking after children (e.g. guides, holiday clubs, siblings etc).
You must be fluent in English. You will need to be proactive and creative in providing a timetable of activities for entertaining / educationally stimulating the two older children. Example activities include singing, baking/cooking, dancing, reading, painting, crafts, writing, trips to the library, the park, and playground – anything to keep them away from the TV, and from mum and the baby! Singing nursery rhymes is a must although the quality of voice does not matter too much! Other responsibilities include nursery pick up and drop off. It will not be necessary to have a car or drive. You will need to help with light household chores, such as sorting out the laundry, food, clearing up, tidying up the kitchen, rooms and toys.
Our two year old has developmental delay and has a development plan (with actions identified by specialists). She needs encouragement through structured play and physical activities which you will take some responsibility for. She is currently non-verbal and a crawler, but not a walker, so requires a fair amount of carrying. She is also a reluctant eater so requires patience at the table and bottle feeding. Willingness to learn Makaton (a simple sign language) is also a requirement to help her speech development.
If you meet the above criteria, please reply to this advert with a CV plus any additional information about your experience and salary expectations. We will also need two checkable references (an employer / teaching professional, and one character reference from someone professional who has known you for five years minimum). Checks will be necessary. Pay will be commensurate with suitability and experience. You will need to be available for interview and provide proof of identity and nationality. We will only contact you if we wish to interview you.
