ABOUT US...
We are an American living abroad in Great Shelford, Cambridge, UK, and have four children (14-year old boy, 13-year old girl, 3 year-old boy and 2-year old boy.) We are looking for a nanny/housekeeper to start as soon as possible and stay with us for 12 months or more.
We live about 4 miles south of Cambridge city center in a village called Great Shelford. It is within easy walking distance from the train station (10 minutes) and easy cycling distance of Cambridge (4 miles). The local town has a variety of shops, primary school, recreation ground, library, and health centre. Should you desire and/or need a place to live as well, we have a private bedroom and bathroom available if you are the right candidate.
ABOUT THE JOB...
We prefer a native speaker in either German or French and would like you to speak to our toddlers in this language. We have had two previous nannies, the last one spoke German to our 3-year old and the one before that spoke French. None of them had previous experience as a nanny and we do not believe this to be a prerequisite. A genuine love of children and demonstrated interest in children is absolutely essential!
Our teenagers are well behaved, clever, self-sufficient and interesting! For the most part, they are able to take care of themselves. Our babies are lively, humorous, and endlessly entertaining. All of our children enjoy being together, playing, and share the same silly sense of humor. None of our children have any medical conditions.
We are looking for someone to become a part of our family, not just someone who works with us. Our previous nannies are all close friends and often come on holiday with us. Primarily, we need help with the babies and light housework. Hours are extremely flexible as are holidays as mother is stay at home, but someone who has a positive, can-do attitude is an absolute MUST!
Nanny duties include helping children get ready for school/playgroups; taking them to the German/French-speaking playgroups; one night a week of babysitting so parents can go out and daily housework- laundry, dishes, vacuuming, etc. Weekends and evenings are free. You are entitled to holidays.
Pay is commensurate with experience and negotiable depending on live-in or live-out, etc. References required!
