Senior Design Engineer

Advanced Selection Ltd has been appointed to resource for a Senior Design Engineer (Pro Engineer) for leading automotive engineering company. The successful candidate will come from an automotive background report to the Design Manager. Their role will include:
§To manage a team of designers in a pro-active manner
§To undertake specific tasks to achieve the engineering outputs to programme, cost and specification in accordance with the Engineering and Project Management Procedures.
§To manage the generation of all design outputs from the engineering department
§To work with designers to ensure consistent designs of high quality and to budget
§To encourage and assist designers on all technical issues pertaining to MSV products
§Is the point of contact for all technical issues on his/her nominated project

Responsibilities

§Defining project design requirements, programmes and design control lists
§Produce and maintain the project file
§Design products as directed by the projects department, including costs and scope of supply
§Ensure product design meets the contract requirements
§Management of Design Costs and Programme in accordance with the Design Control List
§Check that design packages contain all the information required by production planning
§Produce technical specifications for major bought out items
§Ensure that designs are safe and meet all statutory requirements
§Ensure that test schedules are produced
§Assist purchasing with technical queries
§Manage design element of bids and impart technical experience to the bid team
§Check and authorise designs, drawings, Items lists and product build standards
§Issuing Design Office Issue / Amendment Sheets
§Product build standard and document configuration control
§Ensure that Advance Purchase Requisitions are released in accordance with the programme
§Attendance at meetings and Design Reviews
§Ensure that queries and Inspection Reports are resolved and responded to in a timely manner.
§Ensure that all relevant analyses has been performed according to the requirements

Skills must include:

§ Good breadth of Mechanical Engineering knowledge required.
§Design to Cost for Manufacture and Assembly
§Knowledge of Drawing Systems, Product Structures, Build Standards and Configuration Control.
§Experienced Inventor 11 user or Pro E.
§Knowledge of Word, Excel, required.
§Personnel management and the ability to delegate
§Ability to create a team spirit to encourage efficient output
§Extensive/Specialist/technical knowledge & understanding of Inventor. Knowledge of other 3D CAD packages acceptable. §Extensive/Specialist/technical knowledge & understanding in an design experience.
§HNC/Degree in Engineering or lower qualification supplemented with additional experience
