The guesthouse «Great Madineia» – built in 1858 – is a cluster of buildings characterized as typical of Greek architecture during the mid 18th century.
It was restored during the years 1997-2000 and was converted into a first class guesthouse.
It consists of 5 self contained and fully furnished flats, that are 75 – 85 square meters in area. Each apartment has a lounge, kitchen, bar, dining room, bedroom with bathroom. They are equipped with satellite TV, kitchen utensils and fully autonomous air-conditioning facilities. Each unit can sleep 5 – 6 persons. There are 3 communal balconies with sea view, an internal courtyard and the reception area.
The guesthouse is situated in the village of Megali Mantineia in the municipality Avia at an altitude of 200 meters – on the boundary of Mani province – in the middle of a scenic landscape with hills covered by olive trees, a view to the entire Messinian bay, the mountaintops of Taygetos and the gorge of Rintomo, 10km to the south of the city of Kalamata and only 2 km away from the beach of Santova.
