CAMBRIDGE – SOLE CHARGE NANNY WANTED, LIVE IN OR LIVE OUT
Starts September 2009
Live-in or out sole charge job working with 3 boys (11 years, 8 years, 5 months). Great Shelford, near Cambridge. 6 weeks paid holiday a year (taken in school holiday periods only), light and bright large double bedroom with sitting area if required, TV etc, share guest bathroom.
Live in: Minimum of £15,500 p.a. annual gross/£240 net pw (depending on experience)
Live out: Minimum of £20,000 p.a. annual gross/£300 net pw (depending on experience)
One evening's babysitting a week. Ideally nanny should be Ofsted registered or very close to being so, as we would like to pay with childcare vouchers. Driver not required, but if you do have your own car we will pay a mileage allowance of 40p a mile for using it on duty (optional). Good public transport routes locally.
Typical routine (live-in):
7.30 Help get kids up, dressed, ready for school.
7.45 Wave eldest off to secondary school with all necessary equipment (he will be getting himself there).
8.30 Take middle son to school by car or bus with baby (2 miles).
9.15 Back at home. Look after baby. Do children's bedrooms, playroom, children's washing and ironing as required, while baby is having naps. Socialise with other nannies, and/or go to Tumbletots, park, swimming, etc.
3.00 Be back at school to collect middle son. Maybe visit park on the way home from school in nice weather.
3.30 Give middle son milk and biscuits, help him with homework and music practice for about 10 minutes or so.
4.45 Eldest son comes back home from secondary school by himself. Give him milk and biscuits, make sure he spends 1 hour doing his homework and music practice. Get everything ready for next day and lined up by front door, eg PE kits, uniform and so on.
6.00 Cook dinner, something simple like pasta or shepherd’s pie (kids have hot dinners at school but are still hungry). Large enough amount so parents can share it.
6.30 Family dinner, eat with family, help clear up after dinner.
7.30 Clock off
Hours: Maximum 60 hours a week (live-in) Maximum 50 hours a week (live-out; hours would be shorter on Mondays and Fridays)
Weekends free (apart from occasional babysitting by negotiation). We have a cleaner for non-nursery duties but if the nanny could help with minor everyday routine household tasks while parents are working (eg loading and unloading dishwasher, moving clothes from washing machine to dryer, folding laundry, small errands) this would be desirable.
Nanny must be NNEB or NVQ (Level 3) qualified, and have at least two references. Should have a minimum of one year's sole home childcare experience.
