Qualified senior practitioner required, children's services (children in need/ initial assessment), based on the Essex boarders. This is initially running as a temporary contract but could well move on to a permanent contract. Our client has reserved excellent pay rates for experienced social work candidates.
Our client is currently seeking a self motivated, hard working qualified Senior Social Worker to join their children's department. Ideally candidates will have a minimum 3 years working knowledge within children and families settings, with preferably experience of court work, although candidates with less but fully relevant experience will also be considered.
Duties:
* To act as a source of consultation for colleagues within the team and where appropriate the Department by virtue of being an experienced and reliable Senior Practitioner.
* To assist in and contribute to the development of the practice standards in the Department as required and where relevant, which may include some training responsibilities.
* To undertake responsibility for some areas of work in the day to day running of the team and supervision of team members.
* To maintain a current and active interest and knowledge in such legislation and policy changes, research findings and practice developments, from a wide field, as are relevant to the post holder's client's group responsibilities.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of child care legislation including the Children Act 1989 and associated guidance and regulations
* Theory and practice of child care planning
* Able to interview children and families
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Able to organise and prioritise own work
* Able to operate within a multi-disciplinary setting
* Able to carry out child in need assessments.
The successful candidate will need to hold a DipSW or equivalent must be registered with the GSCC, have a current CRB and a valid UK driving license. The post is looking to run for a minimum 6 months and could well move to an on-going contract. (Pay rates are fixed)
