UK Finance Manager
Based in the UK with frequent travelling within the country, and reporting to EMEA Headquarters, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following functions in a multinational corporate environment:
1. Develop, implement, and monitor operating and accounting procedures to ensure companies' policies affecting financial matters are observed and assets safeguarded.
2. Timely preparation of financial statements in adherence of generally accepted accounting practices.
3. Preparation of monthly and annual budgets and forecasts.
4. Design and recommend controls for reduction of costs.
5. Perform and coordinate General Accounting functions across UK entities, such as conducting variance analyses on general ledger and miscellaneous accounts, resolving discrepancies, monthly account reconciliation, tax filings (PAYE, VAT, Corporation Tax and Deferred Tax), financial and fixed asset schedules, accruals, monthly closings, cost accounting, and preparation of month-end and general financial reports.
6. Manage the Accounts Receivable function including receiving, verifying, and applying funds to customer accounts, researching charge-backs or discrepancies, and balancing daily and end-of-month transactions.
7. Manage the Accounts Payable function with respect to generating accurate and timely invoices to customers, reviewing invoices and generating payments to vendors, and balancing daily and end-of-month transactions.
8. Maintain relationships with banks, perform bank reconciliations and wire transfer procedures.
9. Reconcile end-of-month inventory and assist with cycle counting and physical inventories.
10. Assist with the Credit and Collections function including the review of credit information for new and existing customers, approving credit limits and terms up to a predetermined maximum limit, and contacting customers to solicit payment of past due accounts.
11. Calculate accountancy ratios such as return on investment, return on equity, working capital, cash flow, etc.
12. Train, coach and mentor Finance staff.
13. Monitor and approve vacation, conducts evaluations, recommend pay increases and participate in hiring decisions and disciplinary actions of Finance staff.
Perform special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Financial Controller and US Finance Headquarters.
Up to £65,000 + full benefits package which will include a car.
Required skills and qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required with an emphasis in Finance, Mathematics or Business Accounting with 3-5 years accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (UK GAAP). Knowledge of US GAAP would be highly appreciated.
- Excellent knowledge of SAP FI.
- Leadership skills and experience managing a small team
- Excellent analytical, mathematical and organisational skills required
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other appropriate software.
- Ability to produce understandable, detailed and accurate graphs, charts and reports.
- Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
- Verbal and written fluency in English. Other European languages a benefit.
- Ability to complete assignments within time frame.
