Service to be provided:

Advice to Development Control on arboricultural aspects of planning applications, including:
• Pre-application advice (occasional, on case officer request)
• Commenting on planning applications, as requested by case officers (these will be applications affecting trees subject to Tree Preservation Orders or in conservation areas, and other applications which have arboricultural implications), and recommending conditions to be attached to permissions
• Discharge of arboriculture-related conditions

Provision of the service will involve site visits, and working within the Department on at least one day per week (as a minimum, attendance within the Department is required on Mondays, to enable liaison with case officers).

The successful tenderer will need to be a fully qualified arboriculturalist, and to provide their own transport and telephone for contact throughout the working week.

Essential Experience

Qualification plus minimum of plus relevant technical/ practical experience

Capable of dealing with people of different backgrounds in difficult circumstances; self confident and assured

Computer literate, including word processing

Working knowledge of planning legislation and guidance, with particular regard to TPO and Conservation Area trees.

Fully qualified with:

Degree in Arboriculture or Professional Diploma in Arboriculture (Royal Forestry Society) (theory and practical)
National Diploma In Arboriculture (BTeC)

+ relevant technical/practical experience

Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
The job requires the ability to be able to travel between sites
Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
